Software and instructions for building virtual LEGO® models and creating your own instructions
LDraw
A site that offers a wide range of information related to software that allows you to create virtual LEGO® models on your computer. Most of the software can be downloaded free of charge. The site also contains tutorials and other resources.
LeoCAD
A simple-to-use program that can be used to create virtual LEGO® models with unlimited bricks.
MLCad
Another program used to build with virtual bricks. Incorporates slightly different features and a more complex user interface.
LPub
A program that produces step by step construction documentation from DAT files.
POV Ray
A program that helps bring virtual models and building instructions to life. This program can create realistic images from the models built in other software. Although not a LEGO-specific program, it works nicely with some of the software noted above.
